New York City-born, Milan-based electronic artist WhereIsFenix introduces a new chapter in his musical journey with Curiosity, an 18-track debut album released through his own label, Legacy System. Spanning three chapters, the project draws from house, minimal, jazz, and electronica, bringing together years of musical exploration shaped by time spent between New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Berlin, Detroit, and Milan. Available digitally, with a vinyl release forthcoming, Curiosity marks the first full-length album from Legacy System and the beginning of an open-ended series.

Rather than following a single genre or location, Curiosity connects different sounds and experiences through movement. House music provides its foundation, with percussion, found sounds, and raw club textures shaping a collection that balances dancefloor energy with a more personal approach to electronic music. Across its 18 tracks, the album reflects the people, places, and underground scenes that have influenced WhereIsFenix, allowing each chapter to explore a different side of his musical identity.

For WhereIsFenix, the project represents a shift away from searching for a place within an existing scene and toward building a creative world of his own.

“Curiosity is what happened when I stopped looking for a place in the scene and started creating my own universe,” he explains. “Every record I’ve made carries a piece of my life. The album is just the evidence that I was there.”

The album’s collaborations bring together artists from different generations of electronic music, connecting established voices with contemporary innovators and emerging talent. House music pioneer Robert Owens appears alongside the modern club energy of Patrick Mason and the next generation of artists represented by Dantiez Saunderson. Longstanding underground connections with Boris Werner further expand the album’s musical range, reflecting the different scenes and sensibilities that have shaped WhereIsFenix’s perspective.

The three chapters give Curiosity its structure while allowing the album to unfold as a connected listening experience. Chapter I, Wander Where Wonder Wanders, focuses on discovery through stripped-back rhythms, leftfield textures, and arrangements that leave room for unexpected details. Interludes flow directly into the surrounding tracks, creating continuity rather than separating the music into individual pieces.

Chapter II, Motion Not Wasted, shifts toward a more physical club experience. Peak-time moments and heads-down grooves sit alongside less predictable selections, with the production retaining a raw quality instead of leaning toward excessive polish. The result emphasizes movement and atmosphere while preserving the underground sensibility at the heart of the project.

Chapter III, Sueños y Memorias, turns toward more personal territory. Deeper house influences, personal recordings, and voices bring the people and places behind the music into focus. Although the chapter is more introspective, the dancefloor remains part of its foundation, connecting memory and emotion with the physical experience of listening.

Born in Queens to an Argentine father from Esquina, Corrientes, and a Colombian mother from Bogotá, WhereIsFenix brings a perspective shaped by different cultural backgrounds and musical communities. Now based in Milan, he draws from years spent moving between cities and club cultures, allowing those experiences to influence his rhythms, textures, and selections without turning the album into a straightforward travel narrative.

During the creation of Curiosity, he also kept his DJ appearances rare and largely unannounced, playing special gigs that were never publicly advertised. That approach reflects the project’s emphasis on discovery and its connection to the underground, where music and shared experiences can matter more than visibility.

With Curiosity, WhereIsFenix brings together the sounds, people, and memories that have shaped his artistic identity. Rooted in house music but open to a wider range of influences, the album moves between raw club energy and personal reflection. As the first installment in an open-ended sequence on Legacy System, it establishes a foundation for future chapters while offering a portrait of an artist building a musical world on his own terms.
