Australian artist and producer JVLY returns to the introspective world of SUNDER with SUNDERLUXE, a 12-track deluxe album that reimagines the original project through new material, alternate versions, and reworked collaborations. Rather than simply extending the story of his acclaimed SUNDER EP, the release explores its emotional and sonic foundations from a fresh perspective, creating a companion piece that feels familiar while taking the project in a new direction.
Opening with “IT’S FINE/SOJU ON THE MOON,” the album moves through tracks including “SOUTH,” “DROWNING IN MY ROOM,” “LOCUM,” and “WALKED THE SUN.” These songs continue the atmospheric, introspective sound that has become central to JVLY’s artistry, balancing emotional depth with immersive production. The second half expands the experience through remixes and bonus material featuring Mel Blue, Contrecoeur, Lemonade Baby, and dj poolboi, bringing new interpretations to the world established by the original project.
At the heart of SUNDERLUXE is “SOJU AGAIN,” a focus track that revisits the emotional territory of the original record without attempting to recreate it. For JVLY, the song represents a chance to explore those feelings from the other side, making it a natural introduction to the album’s second half.
“SOJU AGAIN came from wanting to see what that feeling was like on the other side of the record, and approach it from a different place. So it felt like the right song to open the B-side of SUNDERLUXE. I wanted SOJU AGAIN to feel like it belonged to that world without just being a return to something I’d already done. There’s something familiar about it, but it feels like it’s moved somewhere completely new, which is the whole parallel universe idea behind SUNDERLUXE,” JVLY explains.
That parallel-universe concept runs throughout the album. Instead of treating SUNDERLUXE as a straightforward continuation, JVLY approaches it as an opportunity to revisit familiar ideas and discover what else they can become. New collaborations and previously unexplored creative directions allow the project to expand while maintaining a connection to the emotional identity of SUNDER.
“I think SUNDERLUXE is really about seeing the same world from a different angle. SUNDER had its own energy and its own journey, and I wanted to take some of those ideas somewhere else while still feeling like they belong in that world. It gave me the chance to explore sides of it and bring in some new pieces that I couldn’t really fit into SUNDER itself. I also got to work with some of my favourite artists and producers in the process. I guess SUNDERLUXE feels like stepping back into that world and looking at it from somewhere else,” JVLY says.
With SUNDERLUXE, JVLY continues to develop a musical world built around atmosphere, introspection, and emotional discovery. By revisiting the ideas behind SUNDER through new perspectives, alternate versions, and collaborations, the Australian artist gives listeners another way into a project that continues to evolve beyond its original boundaries.
