Los Angeles-based GRAMMY-nominated duo SLANDER have joined forces with rising producer Nejvex for “Booster Ignition,” a new single out now via Gud Vibrations. The collaboration represents a full-circle moment for Nejvex, who was first discovered by SLANDER through the duo’s ICON Collective scholarship program several years ago.
Built around futuristic dubstep and riddim, “Booster Ignition” drops listeners into a cinematic world of sci-fi sound design. NASA system-check recordings establish the atmosphere as tension gradually builds before exploding into guttural sub-bass drops, laser-like synths, dystopian atmospherics, and otherworldly textures. Heavy bass design and intricate rhythmic fills keep the track shifting between moments of suspense and full-force impact.
“Getting to work on this track together was the best experience ever and definitely a full circle moment for me,” says Nejvex. “I remember a few years ago getting a DM from SLANDER with interest in signing some of my tracks to their label which I was super taken aback by. After that the connection sort of kept on growing over the years — I released an official remix for them, won their ICON Collective scholarship, moved out to LA and after finishing out school, I started working in the studio with them a bunch.”
The relationship has grown well beyond music, with Nejvex developing a close creative connection with the duo.
“We have a pretty big overlap taste-wise in what sort of music we like and we get along creatively so well, but also most importantly, we get along as people and friends,” continues Nejvex. “I think we managed to create something unique that hopefully stands out from the rest in the ever-growing dubstep landscape. It’s honestly my favorite track that I’ve ever gotten to work on so far.”
For Nejvex, “Booster Ignition” is the latest step in a journey that began several years ago. After matriculating at ICON Collective, he relocated from his native Czechia to Los Angeles, where he continued developing his production style under SLANDER’s mentorship.
That relationship eventually led to Gud Vibrations signing his forward-thinking five-track OUTLAW EP in 2024. Earlier this month, Nejvex followed it with his four-track DON’T BE MAD EP, further establishing his place within the label’s growing roster. He has also delivered an official remix for SLANDER and provided tour support at select stops during the duo’s immersive audiovisual “The Voyager” tour.
The new collaboration continues SLANDER’s commitment to supporting emerging artists through Gud Vibrations while highlighting the progression of Nejvex’s futuristic bass sound. He has already brought that sound to stages across North America, supporting SLANDER at Pacha NYC, Believe Music Hall, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Big Night Live, Treefort Music Festival, Echostage, Revel, Skydeck at Assembly Food Hall, and Echoa Ridge.
With “Booster Ignition,” years of mentorship, collaboration, and shared creative interests come together in one explosive release. Following the single, SLANDER will continue their international touring schedule with their forthcoming Asia Tour.
