Multidisciplinary artist Shygirl returns with “Alyse,” her first new music of 2026 and the beginning of a new creative chapter. Released via Because Music, the track pairs intimate vocals with stark cello arrangements and distorted electronic textures, accompanied by a cinematic visual that expands the song into a three-act narrative.
Written and produced by Shygirl alongside longtime collaborators Karma Kid and JD Reid, “Alyse” finds the artist exploring the comfort and vulnerability that love can provide in unfamiliar or uncertain moments. Her vocals sit delicately within the arrangement, contrasting with raw cello harmonies and warped sonics that give the track an increasingly atmospheric and dramatic quality.
The accompanying “Alyse” film pushes that emotional tension even further. Developed from an original story and script written by Shygirl and writing partner George Smale, the visual was directed by Francesco Loy Bell and Oliver Bell and unfolds across three acts.
At its center is a high-octane chase sequence surrounded by themes of love, desire, secrecy, and obsession. The story moves through shadowy back-alley encounters and unexpected interruptions, creating a world where intimacy and danger constantly overlap.
Rather than placing herself directly at the center of the narrative, Shygirl takes on the role of an elusive provocateur. She moves through the story as both observer and observed before ultimately turning her gaze back toward the audience, adding another layer of ambiguity to the visual’s cinematic storytelling.

The release marks the beginning of an active year for Shygirl, who is set to bring her live show across Europe in 2026. Her upcoming performances begin in the Netherlands at Draaimolen, followed by appearances in Italy, Iceland, and Spain, continuing the artist’s evolution as a performer whose work regularly moves between music, visual art, fashion, and performance.
The new single follows a busy period for Shygirl, who last year celebrated the fifth anniversary of her debut project ALIAS with the remix release ALIAS is ME. The anniversary campaign also included a multimedia installation and live performance at Centre Pompidou in Paris, a collaboration with sexual wellness brand HOWL, and a limited-edition ALIAS 5th Anniversary Skin Box featuring just 25 handmade silicone-covered collector’s editions.
With “Alyse,” Shygirl moves into a darker, more cinematic space while maintaining the experimental sensibility that has defined her work. The single offers the first glimpse into what promises to be another boundary-pushing chapter for one of electronic music’s most distinctive multidisciplinary artists.
