Following the appearance of mysterious flyers posted on lampposts throughout New York City, Dominican-American singer-songwriter María Isabel has officially announced her forthcoming project, Miss Me Much?, arriving August 7 via Sony Music Latin. Alongside the announcement, she has unveiled the new single “1-800,” offering another glimpse into an album that marks a bold new chapter in her artistic evolution.

Executive produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer El Guincho, whose acclaimed credits include Charli xcx, Rosalía, and FKA twigs, Miss Me Much? explores María Isabel‘s identity as the daughter of Dominican immigrants raised in Queens. The project blends deeply personal storytelling with the rhythms and musical traditions that shaped her upbringing, resulting in her most confident and culturally rooted work to date.

“1-800” stands apart as the only English-language song on the album, reconnecting with the sultry R&B influences that defined María’s earliest releases. While much of Miss Me Much? embraces reggaeton and dembow, the single offers a reflective counterpoint, showcasing her versatility while maintaining the emotional honesty that has become her signature.

María Isabel first hinted at this creative transformation late last year with the release of “Sunset Tower” and “Bien Bien,” introducing a more vibrant and liberated sound following a series of recording sessions with El Guincho in Miami. Earlier this year, she continued that momentum with the dembow-inspired single “Suiza,” accompanied by a music video filmed in her native Dominican Republic.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, which previously recognized her as an Artist You Need To Know, María reflected on the personal experiences that inspired the project following the end of a long-term relationship.

“I was dating for the first time as a full grown adult where I’m settled and know what I want, what I don’t want. So it was just way more fun and lighthearted.”

That sense of freedom is woven throughout Miss Me Much?. The album captures the emotional release that comes from moving beyond heartbreak, channeling newfound confidence into vibrant, dancefloor-ready production without sacrificing the introspective songwriting that first introduced listeners to her music.

Throughout the project, El Guincho reimagines the reggaeton and dembow rhythms that surrounded María Isabel during her childhood in Queens, while her candid lyrics transform those familiar sounds into a deeply personal narrative of growth, empowerment, and self-discovery. The result is an album that balances infectious energy with emotional depth, frequently raising the tempo while remaining grounded in lived experience.

María Isabel first emerged as one of pop’s most compelling young storytellers in 2021 with her EPs Stuck in the Sky and i hope you’re very unhappy without me. Across both projects, she established a reputation for intimate songwriting delivered seamlessly in both English and Spanish, earning praise from publications including Rolling Stone, Vogue, Pigeons & Planes, Wonderland, and NYLON.
