French electronic music producer and DJ Michael Canitrot has officially brought his acclaimed Monumental Tour to the United States, debuting the ambitious audiovisual experience with Liberty Lights at the Statue of Liberty during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Created in collaboration with Matthieu Gauthier, the landmark performance celebrated both the monument’s 140th anniversary and America’s 250th anniversary, honoring the enduring friendship between France and the United States.

Now available to watch on YouTube, Liberty Lights transforms one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks into a breathtaking fusion of electronic music, architectural lighting, and storytelling. The performance marks another milestone for Monumental Tour, a project known for reimagining historic sites through immersive multimedia experiences.

Monumental Tour emerged from the aspiration to foster a dialogue between music and locations that convey narratives beyond our individual experiences,” said Michael Canitrot. “The Statue of Liberty epitomizes this universal significance, and envisioning an artistic creation for this iconic site today constitutes a profound privilege. With Liberty Lights, I aimed to cultivate a moment of unity around a symbol that perpetually inspires and reminds us that the ideals of freedom unite us and imbue our shared experiences with meaning.”

The event was presented at the invitation of the Consulate General of France in New York, commemorating the Statue of Liberty—France’s historic gift to the United States—as a lasting symbol of liberty, hope, openness, and progress. The performance further expanded the international reach of Monumental Tour, which has previously transformed globally recognized heritage sites including Mont-Saint-Michel, the Eiffel Tower, and the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame de Paris into unforgettable live experiences that blend music, history, and cutting-edge visual production.

The show opened with a powerful narration from internationally acclaimed actor Jean Reno, setting the stage for an emotional journey before Michael Canitrot performed a selection of his signature electronic productions. The set also introduced three brand-new original compositions created specifically for the event: “Arcadia,” “Icon,” and “Horizon.”

To bring the monumental production to life, Michael Canitrot partnered with renowned show director Romain Pissenem of High Scream, whose production credits include spectacular live events for David Guetta at Stade de France, Black Coffee at The O2 Arena in London, and Tiësto‘s performance at the Great Pyramids of Giza. Together, they designed a custom lighting experience that illuminated Lady Liberty in synchronization with the music, creating a visually stunning tribute to the monument’s legacy.

Beyond those gathered in New York Harbor, Liberty Lights reached audiences nationwide through Disney Celebrates America, airing on July 3 across ABC, Disney+, ESPN, Hulu, National Geographic, Freeform, FX, and ABC News Live, further extending the celebration to millions of viewers.
