Memphis LK, the London-based DJ, producer, and singer, is pushing the boundaries with her latest EP, which showcases a harder and grittier sound. This five-track collection features collaborations with Aussie trailblazers DJ BORING and Willaris. K, packed with high-energy tracks designed for the most intense club experiences.
After relocating from Melbourne just over a year ago, Memphis LK has fully immersed herself in the London club scene and beyond. Her sets, which blend early 2000s trance, jungle, breaks, electro, and techno, have been lighting up clubs across Europe. Over the summer, she played major venues like The Cause, Phonox, and festivals like Field Day and Way Out West, alongside artists like DJ Heartstring, Effy sim0ne, Pretty Girl, Barry Can’t Swim, horsegiirL, Brutalismus 3000, and Yaeji. With upcoming tours planned in Australia and the UK, Memphis LK is ready to unleash her road-tested material.
Since her debut as a solo artist in 2021, Memphis LK’s unique take on dance-pop has garnered praise from major outlets like The Guardian, Pitchfork, and Notion. In her latest EP, she’s moved away from her usual songwriting techniques, diving deeper into production methods that bring a richness and soulful texture to her music. “These elements in dance music are synonymous with the club experience – they help you feel warmth and connection,” she explains. “I used my voice like an instrument and incorporated more samples, textures, and organic sounds.”
The EP kicks off with ‘Say’, a mood-lifting collaboration with Willaris. K. This track features a propulsive pace with bursts of elation, making it the perfect introduction to Memphis LK’s evolving sound. ‘Don’t Touch Me Baby’, a fierce, assertive track produced with DJ BORING, is a club-ready banger completed in just two days. “This one’s for the baddies who just want to have fun,” says Memphis LK. “It embodies being in your element and feeling empowered.”
The EP continues with ‘Prosper’, a track that balances gritty beats with a wistful surge, symbolizing perseverance and growth. Drawing inspiration from artists like Burial, Grimes, and Overmono, ‘Need You Now’ explores the emotional depths of a reluctant breakup. The EP closes with a club-ready cover of Milky’s 2002 classic, ‘Just The Way You Are’. Memphis LK adds her signature 2000s influences while keeping the feel-good, euphoric energy of the original intact, giving it a nostalgic yet fresh spin.
With this EP, Memphis LK continues to evolve as an artist, infusing her music with emotional depth and club-ready energy, making her a name to watch in the global electronic music scene.
