‘Pinie,’ the latest offering from Parra for Cuva‘s forthcoming LP, emerges as a captivating dreamscape woven in collaboration with orbit, the dream-pop project helmed by German musician Marcel Heym. As Parra for Cuva‘s skills intertwine with orbit‘s mystical sensibility, the track becomes a mesmerizing amalgamation of delicate chords, hazy textures, and lush vocal distortions. Inspired by their profound connection forged during Parra for Cuva‘s retreat in Liguria, Italy,‘Pinie’ embodies a feverish and enticing hallucination, inviting listeners into an intimate and mysterious sonic journey. Shares orbit, “Nicolas and I crafted the song in a quaint garden shed on the coast of Italy. I remember swaying to the melodies all night, sharing laughter, cigarettes, and the company of my brother Patrick and our friend.”

Parra for Cuva, renowned for his distinctive fusion of analog and digital electronic music production alongside a diverse array of instruments, embodies the essence of wanderlust in his musical endeavors. His latest venture, crafted during his recent explorations, bears the evocative title Mimose, inspired by the delicate flower that graces the Italian landscape where many of the album’s tracks were conceived. This upcoming sonic odyssey promises to transport listeners to a realm where the ethereal tones of Caribbean steel drums mingle with the timeless resonance of ancient Zimbabwean instruments, woven together within a tapestry of melodic landscapes across its 12 tracks.
Born in 1991, Nicolas Janco, the mastermind behind Parra for Cuva, has been immersed in the world of sound since a young age. From his first studio in his childhood bedroom to his current studio in Berlin, Janco has evolved into an explorer of sound, incorporating a rich variety of instruments – from bells to flutes to kalimbas and percussion. Having already garnered widespread acclaim with chart-topping singles and albums like Majouré (2014), Darwîś (2016), and Paspatou (2018), Parra for Cuva’s name became intrinsically linked with a sense of wanderlust with the release of his latest offering, Juno (2021). This album expanded Parra for Cuva’s global outlook, featuring collaborations with seven musicians from around the world. The senior album project demonstrated that Berlin’s electronic music scene is not limited to hard electronica and techno, offering warm and melancholic analog sounds.
What sets Parra for Cuva apart is not only his musical prowess but also his visually enchanting live sets. Each live performance is a sensorial experience, carefully curated to match the unique and otherworldly aesthetic of his music. Parra for Cuva’s signature performances have resonated on global stages, with performances at renowned festivals such as Burning Man, Sziget, Fusion, Koko London, Concourse Project in Austin, and landed him a set with the French streaming channel Cercle in the breathtaking Cañon del Sumidero, Mexico. His captivating tracks have also been synced on television’s “The Umbrella Academy” series and commercials with Hyundai and Hugo Boss – featuring actor Chris Hemsworth- showcasing the universality of his sound across mediums.
Serving as the last single to be released ahead of his fifth major album project,‘Pinie’ offers an intriguing glimpse at what is yet to come from the renowned electronic music producer, Parra for Cuva. The project goes hand in hand with his recently announced 2024 international tour, which will take the sought-out artist to major festivals and venues such as Drumsheds in London, Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Beyond the Pale Festival in Dublin, Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, and more.
