Powabunga Festival | Begin The Countdown With The Breakdown

by Kate Chambers

May the countdown to Powabunga begin!  The festival is just under a month away, and we can’t wait to experience the first year of this exciting event.  Yesterday, the inaugural music, mountain, and art festival in Vail, Colorado brokedown its daily artist lineup and the official Powabunga afterparties.

Headlining the music and mountains festival on Friday, March 22 is ZHU, with support from Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyage and De Lux.  Bob Moses will heat up Saturday night with their electrifying live set, with support from Boombox and the incredibly intriguing ISHI. Powabunga’s concert performances at Ford Park kick off at 4 PM each afternoon and continue until 10 PM, followed by the official afterparty at Vail Ale House from 10 PM – 2 AM each night.  Friday night’s afterparty lineup is headlined by Justin Jay of Dirtybird Records, alongside Beschloo, Golden, Dirty Harry, and Stennor. Saturday night welcomes a Bob Moses club set, with Ishi, Ramona, Gavlak, and Paul Pietrini all taking turns behind the decks.

This lineup is packed with talent.  We are so lucky to get both ZHU and Bob Moses as headliners!  They are cherished veterans in the electronic dance music scene and each of them is going to knock the crowd’s ski boots off!  To help you get ready to see these legendary performances, read on to see why they are so amazing. Also, don’t forget to perfect your dance moves to their latest releases featured below!

ZHU

Last year, ZHU released his desert inspired project Ringo’s Desert, which was a huge success and led to his sold-out Dune Tour.  He is currently on tour again for his Dune Part II tour, and just days after the last tour stop in Oklahoma City he’s bringing his talents to Powabunga!

ZHU is a huge influence on electronic dance music.  His lead single “Faded” received a Grammy nomination in 2014.  Shortly after, his collaboration with Skrillex, “Working For It”, got over a whopping 100M+ streams.  Now, five years after he started becoming well known, ZHU has 3,747,707 monthly Spotify listeners and is going strong with his new releases.

Bob Moses

This duo from Vancouver has been setting clubs on fire since 2012.  Their unique mix of guitar strums, classical vocals, and minimalist electronic beats cater to fans of both alternative rock and electronic dance music.  In 2018, Bob Moses released their track “Heaven Only Knows” and their second full-length album “Battle Lines”.  Get ready to hear those blasting through Vail on the second night of Powabunga!

Bob Moses is a must-see live act!  They have toured around the world performing at major festivals such as EDC, Lollapalooza, and Coachella.  Their tunes have been nominated for several Grammys, and a remix of their song “Tearing Me Up” won a Grammy for best remixed recording, non-classical.  With such a successful track record, it’s safe to say that this pair will wow the Powabunga crowd with both their headlining set and club set at the afterparty.
