REZZ Asks “CAN YOU SEE ME?” in Her Dynamic 4th Studio Album

If you’ve spent any time in the EDM scene in the past decade, then REZZ is a name you’re familiar with and most likely obsessed with! REZZ, Isabelle Rezazadeh, is a 28-year-old DJ and producer hailing from Canada. With her most recent album, titled “CAN YOU SEE ME?” now available, this rounds out her fourth studio album. With an impressive discography and live performance track record to date, I went into this latest release ready for a new journey filled with familiar energy. I’m pleased to say REZZ beyond delivered with this dynamic and entrancing 10-track experience!

Album Review

Listening through the first part of this album, I found myself being pulled into the intense, overwhelming energy. As I made my way through the latter half, the full picture of what REZZ was building started to come into focus. As an artist who features very few lyrics or actual vocals in her work, the feelings she evokes through dynamic swells and calming drop-offs is truly a work of art for the senses. While I had initially gone into this album expecting the title to reflect an energy of assuredness and confidence, I found this brought me feelings of internal conflict.

Reflecting on the titles and specific sequencing, I realized it was an internal war between who we think we are and what may be lurking in the shadows, silently shifting and constantly influencing how we view the world and ourselves.

The album’s title track,” CAN YOU SEE ME?” features a haunting whisper repeating that ever so persistent question. My first listen-through was with my over-the-ear headphones. This felt like a whisper crawling down my spine and inviting me for an adventure. As the only solo track of the album, everything about it oozes classic REZZ energy. The remaining 9 tracks feature some of the most notable creators in the scene, including Subtronics, INZO, and deadmau5. It’s a collection of collabs to satisfy bass heads of all preferences!

A few incredible callouts include “CUT ME OUT” and “The Descent”. “CUT ME OUT” is a collab with Digital Ethos that features a driving bass line. I’m sure we’ll be hearing bits of this track sampled across the whole festival landscape this summer! This track was already featured on the most recent episode of Deadbeats Radio. INZO joined forces with REZZ with their juicy and heavy track “The Descent”. With both REZZ and INZO currently on tour, this track is gaining a ton of traction!
